On the occasion of its 15th anniversary, the German-Belarusian Society (dbg) (Berlin) in cooperation with the Eastern Europe Studies Centre (EESC) (Vilnius) with the kind support of the German Federal Foreign Office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania are hosting the international conference: “Regional Stability and Modernization: Challenges and Opportunities for EU-Belarus Relations”. The event will be opened by H.E. Linas Linkevièius, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Lithuania, on the 1st of December 2014 in Vilnius and followed by expert roundtables on the 2nd of December in Minsk.

The aim is to identify opportunities for EU-Belarus cooperation and to analyse experiences, challenges and future perspectives of the Eastern Partnership through strategic debate with experts, politicians and representatives of civil society from the EU and Belarus. Under the prevailing circumstances of the Ukraine/Russia crisis and tensions in the region, new challenges to regional security arise. The discussion on political, social, economic and cooperation issues in order to understand how the latest events influence Belarus and its dynamics, is of utmost importance for future political approaches.

The conference forms part of the Minsk Forum Process, which since 1997 annually organizes an open dialog inside Belarus with the EU. The round table discussions will be held in English and Russian with simultaneous translation.

Participation is by invitation only.
