Three weeks to go to submit Tempus IV applications

Higher education institutions in the Partner Countries of Eastern Europe, the Mediterranean, Central Asia, and the Western Balkans still have until 9 March to apply for joint projects and structural measures under the third call for proposals under the EU’s Tempus IV programme, worth a total of €53.8 million.

The purpose of this call for proposals is to promote multilateral cooperation among higher education institutions, authorities and organisations from EU Member States and partner countries with the focus on the reform and modernisation of higher education.

The proposals aim to cover the following Tempus actions:

Joint Projects: projects with a ‘bottom-up’ approach aiming at modernisation and reform on an institutional (university) level. Joint Projects aim at transferring knowledge between universities, organisations and institutions from the EU and from the partner countries as well as between partner country entities as appropriate.

• Structural Measures: projects seeking to contribute to the development and reform of higher education systems in partner countries, as well as to enhance their quality and relevance and to increase their convergence with EU developments. Structural Measures will be interventions designed to support structural reform of higher education systems and the strategic framework development at national level.

The maximum duration of projects is 24 months or 36 months. The period of eligibility of costs is expected to start on 15 October 2010.

The indicative budget earmarked for the co-financing of projects under this call amounts to €53.8 million.

The minimum grant for both Joint Projects and Structural Measures will be €500,000. The maximum grant will amount to €1,500,000.

Belarussische Hochschulen können die Teilnahme am EU-Wettbewerb beantragen

MINSK, 23. Februar (BelTA) – Belarussische Hochschulen können bis zum 9. März die Teilnahme am EU-Wettbewerb im Rahmen des Programms „Tempus“ mit dem Gesamtbudget von 53,8 Millionen Euro beantragen, so hieß es aus der Vertretung der Europäischen Union in der Ukraine und Belarus.

Im Rahmen des Wettbewerbs muss man Vorschläge zu Verbundprojekten vorlegen, die Austausch von Kenntnissen zwischen Hochschulen und Organisationen der EU-Länder und Partnerstaaten fördern sowie zu strukturellen Veranstaltungen, die auf Entwicklung und Umgestaltung des Hochschulbildungssystems in Partnerstaaten abzielen. Die Verwirklichungsdauer des Projekts darf nicht 24 und 36 Monate übertreffen. Der Preis pendelt von 500.000 bis auf 1,5 Millionen Euro.

In der Vertretung der Europäischen Union in der Ukraine und Belarus betonte man, dass der Wettbewerb vielseitige Kooperation zwischen Hochschulen, Machtsorganen und Organisationen der EU-Länder und Partnerstaaten mit Schwerpunkt auf Modernisierung der Hochschulbildungssysteme bezweckt.

Zur Teilnahme am Wettbewerb sind Hochschulen der EU-Partnerstaaten aus Osteuropa, Mittelmeerstaaten, Zentralasien und westbalkanischen Staaten eingeladen. Die Ergebnisse des Wettbewerbs veröffentlicht man Ende Juli 2010.
