EUROPEAN EXCHANGE

The non-profit organization European Exchange gGmbH was founded in 2005 by the Berlin-based NGO „Deutsch-Russischer Austausch e. V.“ (German-Russian Exchange) and Stefanie Schiffer, CEO of the German-Russian Exchange from 1997 to 2006. As a consequence of the successful work of the German-Russian Exchange in the Russian Federation since 1992, the European Exchange cooperates with NGOs in the new neighbour states of the enlarged European Union and thereby aims to strenghthen the rule of law, social security and human rights protection throughout Europe. Current activities focus on Belarus und Ukraine and include a yearly conference on German-Ukrainian relations, an election monitoring programme in Belarus, human rights courses for law students from Belarus, study visits for NGO activists, and an internet project on migration from Eastern Europe to Germany.
