On 5.5.2023, Piet Mumm took over the office of chairman of the German-Belarusian Society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was one of the first six German community service volunteers in Belarus. As a volunteer for Aktion S\u00fchnezeichen \/ Friedensdienste, he worked for two years in a kindergarten in Minsk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After studying law in Regensburg and Berlin, he worked in Almaty and Zurich, among other places. Today he works as a lawyer and lives with his family in Berlin.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Fred Dorn<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Fred Dorn is Vice-Chairman of the German-Belarusian Society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He studied Protestant theology and social sciences. In the 1990s he was involved in Protestant adult education, especially in Belarus, to promote understanding and reconciliation with the peoples of the Soviet Union. Here he was involved in the realisation of various projects on the topics of forced labour, history (Minsk History Workshop) and Chernobyl aid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Personal contacts at the Minsk Forums organised by the dbg at IBB Minsk motivated him to join the society and, after many years of membership, also to assume responsibility on the board.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Peter Liesegang<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Peter Liesegang is treasurer of the German-Belarusian Society. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He studied economics at the University of Heidelberg and business administration at the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt an der Oder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has been interested in Eastern Europe, especially Belarus, for many years and is involved in the civil society sector.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Ale\u015b \u010caj\u010dyc (\u0410\u043b\u0435\u0441\u044c \u0427\u0430\u0439\u0447\u044b\u0446) is a Board Member of the German-Belarusian Society. He is a public relations expert and a writer of Latvian and Belarusian descent. Born in Moscow into a diplomatic family and raised in Germany and Austria, he holds a degree in international economics from the Financial University in Moscow and undertook further education at the London School of Economics and the London Business School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For over 20 years, he has been a member and founder of various organisations and initiatives of the Belarusian diaspora in Russia, the United Kingdom, and Germany. He served as a member of the Grand Council of the World Union of Belarusians (Ba\u0107ka\u016d\u0161\u010dyna<\/em>) from 2017 to 2021 and was a member of the Rada of the Belarusian Democratic Republic (Rada BNR<\/em>) from 2013 to 2024. As a public commentator on politics and economics, he contributed to leading independent Belarusian media such as Na\u0161a Niva<\/em>, Radyjo Svaboda (RFE\/RL)<\/em>, and Belsat<\/em>. He is also the author of two books on Russian and Soviet history in the 19th and 20th centuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2018, he was awarded the Belarusian Democratic Republic Centenary Medal. He has been living in Bavaria with his family since 2022.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
